Birds Enjoying Copper Water Feature<\/p><\/div>\n

Each Spring Mike sets up our copper water feature, and we enjoy the company of countless families of birds, large and small, right next to our front porch. When it’s time to tear the fountain down for the winter to avoid the pump freezing, we miss them.<\/p>\n

Yesterday marked the beginning of the 10th annual St. George Winter Bird Festival<\/a>, and we decided to check it out. There was a great lecture last night in the Community Art Building; which, by the way, has\u00a0recently been beautifully renovated. We were given a lovely slide presentation of the birds commonly found in our county, and the information was intriguing. We learned that our county is unique in that, it is where the Colorado Plateau, the Mojave Desert and the Great Basin all converge. That makes for some very diverse habitat for birds.<\/p>\n

I was finally able to name a little bird that has been hanging in our yard for a couple of winters; the Dark-eyed Junco<\/a>, and now I want to go out there and see more.<\/p>\n

I’m off this morning, to learn about this new hobby called “Birding” and hope to have some great inspiration to bring back to the Studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n
