Cleaning Copper Foiled Stained Glass Draba<\/p><\/div>\n

Finished. Delivered. This copper foiled stained glass panel was a meditation in detail. Not just fitting the 100 pieces, carefully cut and wrapped, together like a jigsaw puzzle, but the detail of the photograph that was the inspiration for the piece.<\/p>\n

My friend is a lover of nature, and a wonderful gift giver. I’ve been on the receiving end many times. She was given a beautiful book on nature conservation, and from that book she commissioned this stained glass \u00a0panel to give back as a gift.<\/p>\n

The draba is a tiny 1 inch plant, common to the whole world, that most of us walk over without even noticing. It grows in sand with no big demand from its surroundings. The book my friend showed me explains the insignificance of the draba as “just a small creature that does a small job quickly and well.”<\/p>\n

I know my friend’s heart, and that is the way she understands God’s love for us. We are small and insignificant in the world’s eyes, but to Him . . . we are worth a look.<\/p>\n

And this representation of the Draba, from a minuscule\u00a0point of view, shows its grandeur in a way that captured my intrigue too.<\/p>\n

Stained Glass Claret Cups<\/p><\/div>\n

I was privileged to make this copper foiled image of claret cup cactus blooms a few years ago, and it was great to see them hanging in her home. Another example of seemingly trivial plants; spiny and threatening looking, that stand out with bold color and feed hummingbirds and creatures great and small in their short bloom period.<\/p>\n

Noticing the unnoticeable takes slowing down and pondering, a gift that we should all nurture.\u00a0How do you practice slowing down?<\/p>\n
