<\/a>Deschutes Brewery Tour<\/p><\/div>\n
On our recent visit, we toured the Deschutes Brewery<\/a>.\u00a0This is one of the premier craft brewers in the West- earning a place on Outside Magazine\u2019s 2013 list<\/a> of the 100 Best Places to Work. Any wonder when their break-room boasts a personal chef hired to keep the employees well fed?<\/p>\n Employee Feastings<\/p><\/div>\n The brewery offered beer tastings before the tour, and we were able to sample some of their newest and best brews. Our son had introduced me to Black Butte Porter when I spent a month in Oregon- waiting for, and then celebrating our grandson\u2019s birth last year. It was smooth and delicious and is still my favorite.<\/p>\n Deschutes Beer<\/p><\/div>\n Mike likes the more Hoppy IPAs and this tour left him savoring the scents of vast rooms full of barrels of hops-both fresh and in the brewing stage.<\/p>\n Buckets of Hops Ready for Brewing<\/p><\/div>\n The staff at Deschutes was so hospitable and the information they shared about the brewing process and the establishment of their brewery was really fun to hear.<\/p>\n We topped off the day with dinner at the\u00a0Deschutes Brew Pub<\/a>\u00a0with more delicious beer on tap and burgers, served on their homemade bread, and made from local beef- partially raised on the used grains from the brewing process. (We feed Mike\u2019s leftover grains from brewing to our chickens too!)<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/a>
