It’s always tricky trying to honor the details of nature while creating copper designs. This cactus chandelier is one of a half dozen Mike has made over the years. The petals are so lifelike. The blossoms take your mind wandering to the desert in Springtime. The soft glow of the lights make any dining room swoon with the memories of a desert sky.<\/p>\n

Each chandelier takes on its own personality. Each is unique. Mike makes them to order and pays attention to the details. This desert is in his blood.<\/p>\n

Copper Sculptures welcome the wonder<\/h3>\n

The cactus that survive the intense heat with such grace are the perfect subject for a copper artist to re-create. From the hint of a delicate cactus bloom to the suggestion of a rose petal, the sculptures Mike forms with this incredible metal are subtle imposters of Nature. If you’ve ever visited the desert in winter you know how calming the colors and the textures can be. They get to your soul. Taking some of that calm indoors in the form of a \u00a0light or piece of art is to hold onto the wonder.<\/p>\n

Nature inspires and a maker just has to make. When the temperature outside is 110\u00b0 you will find Mike in the shop remembering the best part of his desert. You’ll find him creating his take on the parts that make the desert inviting. You’ll find him working his craft in the colors and textures, the shapes and the shadows that draw him in and keep him here . . . in his desert home.<\/p>\n
