Copper “Intangible”<\/p><\/div>\n

Last night I asked our family to help me describe this new piece of copper art Mike created. I was looking for impressions. I got “Window Pain<\/em>“, “City Scape”, and more than one “Abstract”.<\/p>\n

So we went to the thesaurus to look up abstract, and the one that stood out the most was “Intangible”. The dictionary defines Intangible as :“difficult to define or describe clearly, but nonetheless perceived.”\u00a0<\/em>There is a perceived quality in this piece that I understand \u00a0in my own mind, . . because I know its maker.<\/p>\n

Mike is a thinker, with a creative spirit that bends and moves deep inside, but is manifest through his hands. He has a warped sense of humor, and a quick wit. He sees the world in a warm positive glow, even when the days are dark and unsettling-but definitely not through rose colored glasses.<\/p>\n

Like the definition of Abstract:”Not aiming to depict an object but composed with the focus on internal structure and form”,\u00a0<\/em>I see this piece of Mike’s art-an intricate copper sculpture on a steel background, as a reflection of his own view of the world around him.<\/p>\n

But what do I know. It could just be a good use of scraps from an artist who doesn’t like to waste materials, and knows how to manipulate the metal, and finds true joy in that.<\/p>\n
