Our first grandson turns 1 year old this month. I can’t believe its been a whole year since he came into this world and brightened up our lives so much. Mike decided to make him something special for the occasion. This is the Perfect Ride.
It had to be just perfect, and since the kids don’t live close, and we wanted it to be a surprise, we had to guesstimate dimensions. That isn’t easy when its been over 20 years since our babies were babies. Strange how those things can slip away from memory.
It all came together though, and Mike found the perfect accents for the ride. Can you tell he’s still a biker at heart? If he could put motorcycle sounds on this thing he would, but I’m sure he’ll demonstrate when we’re there.
I made a soft little seat from an old pair of Mike’s Levis and some padding. Our grandson is very tall for 1, just like his daddy, but he may like to sit and dream for a little while. Or he might get his big dog, Pax, to pull him . . . but most likely that will be Daddy’s job.
We hope Koan enjoys his ride as much as Mike enjoyed making it. It will last for many years, and hopefully be an heirloom to be handed down to more little ones. Mike is already planning the wagon he will make to go with it for Koan’s 2nd birthday!! That’s a lovin’ Grandpa.
