For as long as I can remember, I had wanted a copper washtub. Maybe it was the Pioneer spirit in me, or maybe it was just a love for all things copper. My Father-in-law used to tease me that they were $5 a pop in every junk store he saw on his travels through the Nevada desert, but he never brought one home for me. Hmmmmm.
Mike finally gave me a beautiful tub complete with the lid for my birthday a few years ago, and it holds a place of honor in our entryway. So when he bought another one and started to transform it, I didn’t feel too neglected. The trouble was that this one had a whole different purpose, and I fell in love with it too.
Today I’m shipping it off to Minnesota! It was purchased by a customer from our Etsy shop, and I know they are going to love it.
The handles are in perfect condition. They are wooden with gracefully rusted iron hardware. Mike corrugated the copper by hand for the two shelves inside the tub, and the bottles rest perfectly inside the folds.
Four wooden ball feet keep the wine rack sturdy and hold it off the surface for shelf display.
This wine rack with its vintage charm and its handmade transformation are destined for great things.
Do you have a treasured piece of copper in your home? How do you use it for display? We’d love to hear about it.

Oh my. That is beautiful! I loved the email about sustainability. I love repurposed and reimagined items. Anything with an extra life or two holds a place in my heart. I love that you both adhere so closely to this way of life.
