Today we got up with the sun, rubbed our eyes, and headed out to the shop. It was shipping day for the huge chandelier Mike has been building for a client in Michigan.

It started with a steel frame built for us by a local company-D Ironworks. Mike covered the frame with his leather textured copper, and then sealed the bottom in silver mica.

The inner workings are just as detailed, and the whole piece took a lot of precision engineering and time.

For my part, loading and crating the beast was a challenge I won’t soon forget.

It’s been a crazy 3 or 4 months with some great jobs, and they’re coming together one by one. I see a vacation on the horizon.
