I’m so happy to say that the Shoemaker’s children do wear shoes; rather the copper artist’s home is decorated with his work.
One of my favorite places to see it is outdoors. We have a wonderfully weathered old fence that functions as a backdrop for several pieces of copper art. And Oh, how the weather enhances them!
This copper skull looks as if it could be the bones themselves, weathered in the desert sun, and dug up from the red sand.
And there’s the sun himself, keeping watch over the garden. This was a whimsical effort to incorporate copper and glass-two completely different mediums with qualities that enhance each other so beautifully.
There’s more to see; on the back porch, in the vegetable garden, and even in the chicken coop, but I think I’ll breathe in the mint at the water feature, and save it for another post.
Do you like the look of copper as it weathers naturally, or do you prefer the shiny new penny look? What are your favorite pieces of your own or other’s copper outdoors? We’d like to hear from you. Please leave a comment below.

I like the simple design of the large copper spiral. I did not find it on etsy; do you make them to sell?
Very nice photos.
