Memorial Day, for some of us, means travel-enjoying favorite campsites or natural playgrounds. For others it means family and gathering, catching up on happenings.
For some it means projects around our home, or maybe getting a vacation home ready for the summer. If that’s your take on the holiday, then I hope you’ll look into some of our projects and find inspiration.
Last Fall we installed a copper countertop at the end of our island. I think it is the most beautiful thing in our kitchen. It started out slick and shiny, (which I loved) and now after six months of everyday use, it has developed the most glorious patina (which I love). I set my hot pans there and bread out of the oven, and we use it for serving when our family gathers.
The lights in our kitchen are another of my delights. They are vintage enamel green fixtures, with copper shafts and ceiling caps. They put off so much light, and are easy to clean. I love eating and working by them.
Mike created these awesome rust finished light sconces for a customer, and I am seeing them at the ends of our garage and our entryway. Maybe another project we will have to add to the list.
Copper house numbers make a very personal design statement.
If your style is more contemporary, consider these fused glass house numbers. They can be custom colored, mixed and matched and even given a very organic look like the ones on our fencepost, “Aspen Glass”.
Coming soon to our shop will be Beer Bottle Spoon Rests. They make a great BBQ accessory along with Wine Bottle platters for serving your favorite homemade pickles this summer.
What projects do you have planned for the beginning of summer? Do any of them include copper and glass? You can find many of these, and more inspiration in our shop at Etsy/copperandglass. Good luck wih your ToDo list.
Have a memorable and safe Memorial Day with the ones you love and cherish.
